More when we get them. In particular, El presidente is planning an annual dinner, probably in the West Yorkshire area. Suggestions for venues welcome.
What happened to Matterdale? Your new editor went through the list of people she could pick on to write a report and H was the only person on it, so here goes.... Those who turned up had a lovely weeekend. Thanks to David and Bethan for introducing us to Caldbeck. There. Detailed stuff, huh?
I went for a walk with Paul and Adam. We bounced on a tree, and threw stones into a lake. Jessica. ( I did find somebody else! -Ed.)
Thanks to Lynda for her hard work as editor.
We all wish her a happy retirement, and hope the new job goes well.

Our thanks go to Sue Verspyck for doing the club's accounts which were as follows for 1998:
+----------------+----------+ |Opening Balance | £368.19 | +----------------+----------+ +----------------+----------+ |BMC affiliation | -£90.00 | +----------------+----------+ | Matterdale | +£49.00 | +----------------+----------+ | Newsletters | -£30.00 | +----------------+----------+ | Bron-y-Gader | +£49.03 | +----------------+----------+ | New Members | +£20.00 | +----------------+----------+ | Seathwaite | -£118.00 | +----------------+----------+ | Interest | +£6.00 | +----------------+----------+ |Closing Balance | £254.71 | +----------------+----------+
The new members are Jessica and Eleanor Pumphrey, Kevin Murphy and Roseanne Stephenson. The treasurer comments as follows: ``We took a large loss on Seathwaite last year due to very low attendace. We have to pay for this hut in advance. This year we have booked the hut again as it is in an excellent location but we will be asking for money in advance to confirm viability. Gains from Matterdale and Bron-y-Gader usually cover our annual expenditure on the newsletter and BMC. These costs were covered this year with the addition of four new menbers.'' Booking for High House, Seathwaite
Dear All,
Due to the ever spiralling costs of booking huts, the club can no longer
afford to underwrite losses if a hut is poorly attended. As High House
has had variable numbers over the last few years it would be extremely
helpful if you could fill in the form below if you intend to go this
year. The hut costs £170 for a weekend which must be paid regardless
of numbers so if we do not approach these figures by August 13th we
will able to cancel the weekend and prevent losses.
Please, please return the slips to me at the address below before the deadline date and preferably as soon as possible - it would be sad to miss a trip to a hut with such a wonderful location.
Sarah Gardiner,(Address removed) I wish to attend High House Borrowdale October 15th -17th 1999 Name(s)....................................................... ....................................................... . .......................................................
